Jennet came back as an evil, vengeful ghost dressed in black. Whenever she has been seen; anywhere, whenever and whoever by, a child nearby kills themselves as she forces them to. If an adult sees her, their first born child would die. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki. The Woman in Black at the train station. The Woman in Black watching the 3 Fisher Girls walking. The Woman in Black premiered in and is based on a gothic novel by Susan Hill of the same name. The play was originally adapted by Stephen Mallatratt as a cheap Christmas play intended to use the remains of the grant money the theatre had received. In order to stick to the tight budget Mallatratt conceived the story as a play within a play, the show has only 2 actors who portray a dozen characters. Mallatratt also worked as a television screenwriter for Coronation Street.

She is a veteran in the scare stakes, having been spooking audiences for almost 30 years — first, in Susan Hill's accomplished, flesh-creeping novel and then as an indestructible force on the West End stage. It might seem surprising the story has not been made into a film before. But there is a reason for this: it is devilishly hard to adapt.

Important Notice

Every scary story starts somewhere. And when it comes to horror movies , their origins are wide-reaching. For every truly original tale, there is a movie that is drawing from some source material. Sometimes Hollywood borrows from classic monster lore or timeless ghost stories to frighten viewers. Other times, they borrow their plots from terrifying true stories. And then there are the horror films that get their start as novels. But others were modest hits at best, films that received critical praise but not necessarily widespread popularity.
